2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
We come to focus on one last qualification for a potential pastor: that a potential pastor must be a man. That is what we believe as Southern Baptists. The Baptist Faith & Message, our doctrinal guideline, states this about the church in Article 6: “Its scriptural offices are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.” In this message, I am not out to answer every question or objection to our position on this issue, but I am going to answer the question “Why not women?” by putting out on the table in clear view, our fundamental biblical basis for our position.
11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. (NASB)

2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
In this message, we move on to focus in on another characteristic of a potential pastor - the most important characteristic of all.
holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict. (NASB)
2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATIONCan a church call a divorced man to be its pastor and still be a biblical church? That is what we are going to consider in this message, in looking at the qualification of a man being the husband of one wife. Having myself been disregarded for pastoral leadership by other churches, due to being regarded as disqualified by divorce, I want to directly deal with the question of whether or not Paul’s words here disqualify a man for pastoral leadership. 5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife... 2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
Having looked at the directive of appointing pastors, we now turn to look at the qualifications of the pastors to be appointed. What should we look for in a potential pastor?
This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you-- 6 if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. 7 For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. (ESV)
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (ESV)
2nd SEGMENT: tHE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
This message deals with the directive of appointing pastors, in beginning to dig deep into the imperative and importance of having pastors that faithfully lead a church.
This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you... (ESV)
2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
In this look at orderly organization in Titus 1:5, we see that God does very much care about how we are put together as a church.
This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order... (ESV)
2ND SEGMENT: THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION
The high point that we are looking to take away from this passage is that as a congregation called to order, our participation in the activities of our assembled services is to be decent and orderly.
What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. 36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. 39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But all things should be done decently and in order. (ESV)
2ND SEGMENT: "THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION"This message on Hebrews 10:25 is to show the Biblical truth about the idea that is foundational to the idea of the local church - the idea that after being called out from unbelievers, as believers in the Lord Jesus, we are then called together to form and maintain congregations for the organization and establishment of local churches. not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. 2ND SEGMENT: "THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION"
In this third and final message on being called out by God as a congregation, we go from looking at our contrast of incompatibility with unbelievers and our connection with our indwelling God to our call to intentional separation.
Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, 18 and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” 1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. (ESV)
2ND SEGMENT: "THE STRUCTURE OF ITS ORGANIZATION"
In this second message on being called out by God as a congregation, we go from looking at our contrast of incompatibility with unbelievers to our connection with our indwelling God.
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (ESV)
