HOW IS ONE TRULY SAVED?
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who, in repentance and faith, receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. The essential truth of salvation is best summarized by the Five Solas of the Great Reformation.
Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone
Salvation is according to God's revelation of His Gospel in the Bible, as His written Word, His only Scripture. Only in the knowledge of God's Word is the knowledge of salvation.
Solus Christus - Christ Alone
Salvation is only through Jesus as God's Son and Messiah. He is the only Savior.
Sola Gratia - Grace Alone
Salvation is by grace alone in that God saves sinners apart from any inherent goodness of their own. We do not deserve salvation.
Sola Fide - Faith Alone
Salvation is by faith alone in that God saves sinners apart from any earned merit of their own. We cannot work for salvation.
Soli Deo Gloria - Glory to God Alone
Salvation is for the good of sinners, but saying nothing about any goodness of sinners, only ultimately and eternally magnifying the goodness of God, to the glory of God alone. Only to God is attributed glory, honor, and praise for salvation.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." (Matthew 16:16–18*)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6) Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. (1 Corinthians 15:1–5) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:3–14) For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8–10) *Scriptures from the NASB
