Millions stayed home election day. I venture to say that many of them are Christians. I also venture to say that they stayed home because they thought their votes didn't matter. Disengaged or disillusioned, they didn't see the point.
If you voted, you know better. Whether your vote was for Romney or against Obama (not particularly wanting Romney but having him as the only alternative, as in my case), you should still know better, even though the President was re-elected. A vote is a statement, not simply of support for a person, but of what you are for or against in principle. And a statement was made Tuesday. I believe Obama expected to win and win big. But his win was far from a landslide. He did not expect this tight of a race back to the White House. As he considers that, he has to come to a clear conclusion: his policies are not popular. Even many of those that voted for him have stated that they do not like the direction in which the nation is headed, but they want to give him another chance--more time--I guess more time to make adjustments in his tactics. We'll see what the President does from here, but I believe he got a clear message from all of us that voted against him: "Your big personality doesn't matter to us. We don't like your big-government policies." And from us Christians, the message is more stark than that: "We don't want your right-of-conscience-encroaching, marriage-redefining, baby-killing, wealth-redistributing, immoral policies destroying this nation." If you voted as a Christian--as a CHRISTSERVATIVE--you sent that message...and it matters.
